Aimee Adatto Freeman District 98 State Representative

Aimee on the Issues

After decades of helping improve our district at the neighborhood level, Aimee is ready to apply her experience and knowledge to represent us in the state legislature. Her top goals for District 98 are public safety, education, infrastructure and lowering car insurance rates.
Unfortunately, our State continues to struggle on several fronts. U.S. News & World Report named Louisiana the worst state in the U.S. (50th) on various quality of life issues—and gives our state low ratings on crime & corrections, economy, education, health care, and infrastructure. We can do so much better than this.

As your legislator, Aimee Freeman will bring people together to tackle serious problems. She will work with city officials, state leaders, and community groups to make positive change happen on these and other issues:

Public Safety & Criminal Justice Reform

Investing in these critical areas:

  • Effective law enforcement recidivism-reduction programs
  • Strong youth programs
  • Increased funding for training of parole and probation officers
  • Coordinated, effective, and efficient use of the latest technology in criminal investigation

City, State & Coastal Infrastructure

Acting on these quality of life issues:

  • Revamp the Sewerage and Water Board
  • Ensure safe drinking water
  • Modernize sewer and drainage systems
  • Repair and rebuild roads and bridges
  • Make the protection of our coastline a priority throughout Louisiana
  • Invest in workforce development training so Louisiana will become a leader in coastal restoration jobs and can attract new business start-ups with investment capital from across the nation
  • Allow public study and discussion of the Coastal Master Plan before the legislature votes on it

Lowering Auto Insurance Rates

Supporting legislation to:

  • Lower the number of uninsured drivers
  • Reduce distracted driving
  • Require that wearing a seatbelt during an accident is part of disclosure in all personal injury auto lawsuits—seatbelts are a law in this state so this should be allowed to be evidence in a courtroom
  • Reform insurance laws

Education

Improvements in the following areas:

  • Early childhood, K-12 quality education
  • Job training, trade schools, higher education
  • Pay equity for Louisiana’s teachers
  • Child and school safety

Budgeting

You deserve to know your money is being spent wisely:

  • Reform and streamline wasteful duplication in government spending
  • Demand on-going reviews to identify obsolete laws and regulations and remove them
  • Invest in capital projects for infrastructure and higher ed buildings with surplus funds

Economic Growth

Supporting these initiatives:

  • Smart economic growth and development strategies to bring new jobs to Louisiana via technology companies and other 21st century business opportunities
  • Funding to expand workforce needs so we do not lose companies to Texas, Tennessee, and other states
